Configuration Management

Trickle Up Management

Server and server farm management should follow the same release process as code. Configuration changes, OS patches and other operations related changes are introduced to dev env. Changes are part of the release to test. Changes are then staged and released.

Any upstream (OS) patches and upgrades are applied at the start of a release cycle. This allows compatibility problems to be debugged and fixed early. By including OS updates often compatibility issues are rarely major problems. Reduces technical debit.
